Marblehead Youth Lacrosse breaks teams into the following groups:
U - 7 A developmental program targeted at our first time lacrosse players in Pre-K and K grade. This program offers clinic and small field games each week.
U - 9 A developmental program targeted at young lacrosse players in the 1st and 2nd grades. This program offers clinic and 7-on-7 "in-house" games each Sunday during the season. We also have a couple games with other towns. U - 11 For 3rd and 4th graders, the U11 program is run as an "in-house" league in a 7-on-7 format. Players are assigned to team named after top college programs. No hitting is permitted at this level and no long sticks are allowed on defense. Teams practice once a week play two games every Sunday and compete in a tournament at the end of the season. U - 13 For 5th and 6th graders, this level moves the kids one step closer to regular lacrosse rules. These teams play other towns on Sundays and practice twice per week. Defense may use "modified" long sticks (no more than 60 inches). Hitting is allowed, but must be controlled and no "take out" checks are permitted. U - 15 For 7th and 8th graders, the U15 program is the final step for players before they move on to high school. While many new players still enter the program at this level, the U15 games become much more competitive and physical than those at the younger levels. These teams play other towns on Sundays and practice twice per week.
