Founded in 2002, Marblehead Youth Lacrosse is a volunteer run non-profit organization with a goal to provide a positive environment for boys to learn the game of lacrosse and have fun doing it.  Supported by Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse, the program is open to all boys in Marblehead from Pre-K to 8th grade. Our top notch coaches are made up of former collegiate players, parents and volunteers. Their objective is to ensure our players learn something everyday while respecting their teammates, coaches, and opponents. 

Regardless of your child's skill level, we have programs to support them.  Specifically, there are three types of programs, Clinic, Classic and Select.  Clinic is made for our Pre-K and K boys and is focused on the fundamentals.  Classic Programs are equal playing time and give players opportunities to try different positions.  In contrast, Select Programs require tryouts, are not equal playing time, and are meant for players looking to compete at a higher level.
 

CLINIC

FOR WHO:

U7: Pre-K and K (5 and 6 year olds). Clinic on Sunday mornings through the spring.

ABOUT CLINIC:

Our U7 clinic is an introductory program for all Pre-K and K boys.  The schedule is one hour sessions once a week (usually Sunday morning) during the spring.  The philosophy is to introduce the basic lacrosse skills, play in short sided games and ensure everyone is excited to come back the following year.

CLASSIC

FOR WHO:

U9: 1st and 2nd grades: Practice 1-2x per week with games on the weekend through the spring.

U11: 3rd and 4th grades. Practice 2x per week with games on the weekend through the spring.

U13: 5th and 6th grades. Practice 2x per week with games on the weekend through the spring.

U15: 7th and 8th grades. Practice 2x per week with games on the weekend through the spring.

ABOUT CLASSIC:

The MYL Classic League is an 8-game season plus Jamboree Tournament from early April through mid-June. Our philosophy in the Classic program is that all players participate equally (i.e. equal playing time) in all games on evenly balanced teams based on a player’s grade, age, skill, size, and experience playing a local game schedule in their region. There are no "A" and "B" or "stacked" teams, nor standings and playoffs at any level of the Classic program (our traditional league games on Sundays). Our coaches are trained and certified to be teachers of the game and role models focused on player development, teamwork, and learning the fundamentals—especially the "fun" part.

SELECT

FOR WHO:

The Select Lacrosse Program offers an additional playing opportunity for their more experienced and committed U15 (7th & 8th grade) and U13 (5th & 6th grade) players to enhance their love for the game and improve their lacrosse skills through competitive games versus the best players from surrounding towns.

ABOUT SELECT:

The Select Lacrosse Program is a natural extension fully integrated with the traditional Classic Program and is guided by the same mission and goals as a whole. The Select Lacrosse Program practice & game schedule does not conflict with the Classic Program weekly practice & Sunday game schedule. Players choosing to play on the Select Lacrosse team MUST also play on their town's traditional Classic Program  team as well.  Unlike the Classic Program, the Select Program is not an equal playing time team.
